Resources for Possible Lapse in CalFresh/EBT Benefits

Posted Date: 10/31/25 (1:29 PM)

Dear Mt. View Families,

Our district is aware that families have begun receiving notifications about potential delays in CalFresh/EBT benefit disbursements due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This interruption could begin as early as tomorrow, November 1, 2025.

What does the lapse in funding for CalFresh/EBT benefits mean?
While existing EBT fund balances remain usable, new funds for the month of November as well as new applications and recertifications may be delayed until federal funding resumes.

Please see the California Frequently Asked Questions webpage for more details.
Are students still able to access free breakfast and lunch at school?Yes! We want to assure everyone that school meals programs are NOT affected by the government shutdown. MVSD Nutrition Services will continue to provide breakfast and lunch all MVSD students.

Please check daily menus at mtviewschools.com/schoolmenus.
